Butte Exchange Club recognized by Shriners

The Shriners Bagdad Temple has established a Transportation Fund to help families with the costs of transporting children to and from the Spokane Shriner’s hospital. High gasoline prices, lodging and meal costs all add up quickly for families that have a child treated at a Shriners Hospital for Children. The cost of the medical care is absolutely free! However, families can face significant costs for travel. Bagdad looks at the costs for these families on a case-by-case basis and distributes the money from the Transportation Fund as available. Recently the Butte Exchange Club was awarded a Century Club certificate by the Shriners for their donation to the Transportation Fund generated at the 2015 Field of Honor.

Evening of Wine and Roses – FunRaiser!

Join us for an elegant Evening of Wine and Roses – dinner and dancing!

The Butte Exchange Club’s annual fundraiser will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, February 12 at the Butte Country Club. The evening will include dinner, live and silent auctions and music provided by the Diamond Rock and Soul Band. The public is invited. Tickets are $75 per person. Enjoy the music of Diamond Rock and Soul. Kenny Diamond comes with a passionate love of the guitar. His talents are showcased and range from rock to blues to classical and flamenco. Kenny utilizes classical acoustics, electric guitars, and many years of performing that will awe the guitar and music lovers. Colette Diamond, with over 25 years as an entertainer, plays keyboards, trumpet, saxophone and drums. They promise FUN!

This fundraiser helps to generate the funds that the Butte Exchange Club uses for scholarships, community improvement projects and donations to a wide range of worthy causes. Butte-Silver Bow nonprofit organizations may apply for funds by submitting an application. Application forms are available from this website. 2015 Field of Honor

Exchange Club Distributes 2015 Field of Honor Proceeds :

The Butte Exchange Club would like to announce that its Field of Honor project generated $31,540 in net proceeds, which has been donated to local organizations. The Field of Honor was a temporary display of 1,000 American flags dedicated to our community’s heroes that was located in Butte from September 10^th through the 13th.

On Tuesday, October 20th, checks were presented to each of the nonprofit organizations at a special lunch meeting held at the Butte Country Club. The United Veterans Council presented the Colors. The Exchange Club expressed appreciation to the Event Sponsors who underwrote the costs of the event, the Flag Sponsors, and the hundreds of volunteers who helped make this project such a success.

Run, Roll and Stroll: A Great Success!

Over 100 Superheroes entered the BE A HERO FOR KIDS: Run, Roll and Stroll on April 25^th to help prevent child abuse. The event was a great success and more photos may be found on the Field of Honor Facebook page.

Be a Hero for Kids!

There is no excuse for Child Abuse! Be a Hero for Kids and enter the Run, Roll and Stroll on Saturday, April 25^th. Registration Form is available below.

5K Run starts at 10:00. 1 mile Run starts at 10:15. Registration and Start at Hennessy Market, 32 E. Granite Street. Wear a Superhero costume to be eligible for special prizes.

Entry fees: Kids 12 & under: Free; Individual: $20; Couples/Families: $30; Corporate teams of 5 persons: $75. Pre-registration and shirt pick-up are available on Friday, April 24^th from 5 -7 pm at the Team Room at Metals Sport Bar , 8 W. Park Street.

Race day registration is at 9:30.

Proceeds will go to the Butte Child Evaluation Center

Exchange Club Awards $7,000 in Scholarships

The Butte Exchange Club awarded $7,000 in scholarships to three local high school seniors at its annual Youth Awards Banquet on February 18. Angela McLean, Montana Lieutenant Governor was the keynote speaker. In photo from left to right: Maria, Chance, and Cree.

The Youth of the Year Award was presented to Maria Michelotti, a Senior at Butte High School, who received a $1,000 scholarship. Maria was selected from twelve outstanding high school seniors attending Butte High and Butte Central.

Chance Standish, a Senior at Butte Central, received the A.C.E. Award and the Butte Exchange Club Merit Award for a total of $2,000. Chance was also a candidate for the Youth of the Year Award.

A second A.C.E. Award was given to Cree Weaselboy, a Senior at Butte High. She also received the Rosemary Rawls Scholarship, the Susan Welsch Scholarship and the James Dorr Johnson Scholarship. The total value of these awards is $4,000.

A.C.E. stands for Accepting the Challenge of Excellence and is awarded to students who have overcome great challenges to graduate from high school. The ACE Award is a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by the Butte Exchange Club with support from New Horizon Technologies. Furthermore, the A.C.E. Award candidates also compete for the Rosemary Rawls Memorial Scholarship, the Susan Welsch Memorial Scholarship, and the James Dorr Johnson Memorial Scholarship.

The three winners are now eligible to compete for district Exchange Club awards and then district winners compete for National Exchange Club Foundation scholarship of $10,000.

Exchange Club Donates $80,000

The Butte Exchange Club has recently announced it contributed almost $80,000 to the local community since July 2013. The Club’s mission is to make the community a better place to live through projects that promote Americanism, community service, youth activities and the prevention of child abuse.

During the club’s regular operations in the 2013-2014 fiscal year, $28,700 was contributed to local projects and organizations. To support the development of leaders for the future, $7,800 was awarded in college scholarships as part of the Club’s Youth of the Year and Turn Around Student of the Year programs. $11,500 was donated to local organizations that work to prevent child abuse and strengthen local families. Through the Club’s Spirit of Christmas project $2,500 was donated to support local foster and other needy children. $4,300 was spent to install a Freedom Shrine of historical documents at the Butte-Silver Bow Courthouse and to distribute flags at the Butte Fourth of July Parade. $2,300 was donated to other local non-profit organizations.

In addition, the Butte Exchange Club hosted the 2014 Field of Honor in July 2014. Through the generous contributions of flag and event sponsors $50,000 was raised and donated to the following organizations; Butte United Veterans Council, Butte Family YMCA, Butte Rescue Mission, Butte Child Evaluation Center, Butte Family Drug Court/Butte Cares, Intermountain Children’s Home, Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Butte, Safe Space of Butte.
