Field of Honor donates $50,000

2014 Field of Honor provided our community the opportunity to pay tribute to our heroes from July 3rd to July 6th. Some volunteered their time and others honored their loved ones by sponsoring flags. Over 120 local businesses contributed by underwriting the cost of the event. This year a record number of nine hundred of the 1000 flags were sponsored. As a result of this support, $50,000 was raised for local non-profit organizations. Donations were presented to nine non-profits on September 23 at a special luncheon at the Butte Country Club. For more information click on the Field of Honor page of this website.

2014 Field of Honor

Thank you Volunteers and Event Sponsors!  The 2014 Field of Honor was a great success because of the overwhelming support from our community!  900 flags were dedicated to specific individuals; to honor the heroes of our community and to recognize those who have inspired us.  A special thank you goes to the 130 businesses that generously signed on as Event Sponsors.  In addition, dozens of volunteers arrived on July 2nd to set up the Field of Honor- the 1000 flags were installed in less than 40 minutes.  Then volunteers arrived again on July 6th to take down and roll up all those flags.  Thank you for helping to make the Field of Honor a tribute to our heroes; a place for inspiration and healing.

Flags Arrive for the 2014 Field of Honor

1000 American flags for the 2014 Field of Honor arrived in Butte on June 11th. Butte Exchange Club members are  taking inventory of the contents of the trailer. Exchange Clubs in the Yellowstone District reduce the cost of the flag display by sharing flags, signs and other materials with clubs in Montana and Idaho.  The Butte Field of Honor will be on display from July 3 – 6 at the Continental Drive and Mercury Streets. The Field of Honor is free and open to the public. More information may be found on the Field of Honor page of this website.

Run, Roll & Stroll for Kids Fun Run

There was lots of excitement as over 40 entrants registered and received their T-shirts at the Hennessy Market for the Run, Roll and Stroll for Kids on Saturday morning, April 26th.  The 5K and 1 mile races were open to the community and, despite the cold wintry weather, many families with kids in strollers entered the race; the kids received blue and white pinwheels.  Winners were greeted with blue and white balloons and a crepe paper finish line.  The fun run raised about $1,500 for the Child Evaluation Center which provides an early intervention program designed to enhance attachment security between parents and children.  The Center provides assistance to about 40 families a year.

Quilts for New Hope Clinic

Suzanne Stilwell, wife of Club Member Jim Stilwell, delivered six baby quilts to the New Hope Clinic in October. As you can see from the photo these were lovely quilts and all were made by Suzanne. She offered to make a baby quilt on behalf of those donating $25 at the Silent Auction at the Hearts and Honky Tonk FunRaiser last February. Thus, through her sewing efforts, Suzanne raised $150 for the Club and six babies will receive these lovely quilts.
