Excel Club Members Honored

The Butte Exchange Club, sponsor of the Butte High School Excel Club, announced the winners of two major awards to Excel Club members at the Butte Exchange Club meeting on May 3rd. Carly Trefts, a graduating senior, was selected as the winner of the annual Excel Club scholarship of $1,000 for her outstanding involvement and leadership in the Butte High Excel Club. Carly is planning to Study Civil Engineering at Montana State University.

Sophie Archibald, a graduating senior and the president of the Excel Club, received the Butte Exchange Club Member of the Year Award (formerly known as the Exchangite of the Year). This award is given to the person who has contributed most to the Butte Exchange Club over the past year. Both Exchange Club and Excel Club members can be considered for this award. Through Sophie’s leadership the Excel Club has grown to 30 members and she has rallied the Excel Club members to help the Butte Exchange Club with the National Day of Service, Field of Honor, Give a Kid a Flag to Wave, Child Abuse Prevention and Veterans support projects. She plans to attend the University of Washington and to study statistics and political science. Sophie is the first Excel Club member in the Butte Exchange Club’s long history to win this award!
